Ergonet Cookie Consent
A consent banner and auto-blocker for online stores, built to help you meet GDPR and ePrivacy — it actually holds third-party scripts until the visitor agrees, without slowing your site down.

The problem
Cookie consent is required by law. Most banners still leak.
A cookie banner is legally required, but most of them do not do the one job that matters: they fire tracking scripts before the visitor has agreed. A client-side blocker cannot stop tags that are already in the HTML — the browser’s preload scanner fetches a non-lazy iframe or a script src before any JavaScript runs. On top of that, many banners slow the page down or break your cache, and some make refusal harder than acceptance — which is exactly what regulators go after. The result is a banner that looks compliant and is not.
What it does
Banner with four granular categories
Visitors choose per category — Necessary, Performance, Functionality, Advertising. Necessary is always on, because the store needs session and cart cookies to work at all.
Auto-blocker that actually blocks
Third-party scripts are held until consent is given, then released. It is built for the hard cases — tags already sitting in the HTML — not just the easy ones a script can add later.
Cookie scanner and published declaration
A scanner crawls your site and generates the cookie declaration automatically, so your published list stays honest — taken from a real scan instead of written by hand and left to drift.
Consent log
Every visitor’s choice is recorded — what they agreed to and when — so you hold the proof of consent that the law expects you to be able to show.
Google Consent Mode v2
Google tags respect the visitor’s choice through Consent Mode v2 — required for advertising and analytics tags in the EEA.
AI classification of unknown cookies
Cookies the scanner does not recognise are categorised automatically by a central Ergonet service, instead of sitting Unclassified and waiting for manual review.
Admin toggle, settings and consent expiry
Turn it on or off, adjust the settings, and set how long a consent lasts before it is asked again — 180 days by default.
Why it is different
Half of the blocking runs on the server
A client-side-only blocker leaks tags that are already in the HTML — a non-lazy iframe, a script src, a fetch from inline JS — because the browser’s preload scanner fetches them before any JavaScript runs. Ergonet Cookie Consent neutralises those tags on the server, before they ever reach the browser. Most banners silently leak here; this one does not.
Zero performance hit, even behind a full-page cache
The banner markup is identical in the cached HTML for every visitor; the show, hide and remember decision happens in the browser from the consent cookie. So the banner is correct for each visitor without breaking a full-page cache like Rocket Cache and without a server round-trip.
GDPR-correct by design
Accept and Reject are equal in size and weight — making refusal harder is exactly what enforcement targets. And consent is versioned: if the category set changes, an old stored choice is treated as no consent rather than guessed, so you are never acting on stale permission.
AI classification via a shared central service
Unknown cookies are classified by a central Ergonet service that is shared across platforms, so the intelligence improves centrally rather than living in each install.

FAQ
Will it slow my store down?
No. The banner markup is the same in the cached HTML for everyone, and the show/hide decision runs in the browser from the consent cookie — so it works behind a full-page cache like Rocket Cache with no extra server round-trip.
Does it really block scripts before consent?
Yes, including the hard cases. Tags already present in the HTML — a non-lazy iframe, a script src, a fetch from inline JS — are neutralised on the server before they reach the browser, which is where client-side-only banners leak.
Which platforms does it support?
It ships live on CS-Cart 4.18 and runs in production on our own online store. A build for other platforms — Astro first — is in development, and the AI classification service is shared across all of them.
What about my Google tags?
They respect the visitor’s choice through Google Consent Mode v2, which is required for advertising and analytics tags in the EEA.
